Research Statement:

Roberto Ibarra currently leads the National Science Foundation funded research study: A Study of Context Diversity in Research and Teaching in the WAESO LSAMP Program at Arizona State University.  The five-year-long study began October 1, 2016 and explores the possible disparity and its effects between academic contextual culture and and that of the students at ASU. Total funding for the WAESO LSAMP program is $5 million. The funding for Ibarra's study and related program evaluation to be conducted by Regent's Professor Mario Rivera (UNM School of Public Adminisitration) and Dr. Rebecca Beals totals more than $1 million.  Ibarra is joined by Professor Gary Weissmann, UNM Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences and Michael Howland-Davis, doctoral student, UNM Department of Sociology.
