Sociology Research at UNM

Our faculty maintains a deep commitment to producing innovative sociological research. Our research can be found in prestigious general sociology journals, like American Journal of Sociology, American Sociological Review, Social Forces, and Social Problems, as well as key specialty journals, such as Criminology, Journal of Health and Social Behavior, Mobilization, Social Science & Medicine, among others.  Others have published books with major university presses.

In addition to producing scholarly, peer-reviewed research, our faculty also recognizes the need to reach broader audiences beyond academia.  Many of us engage in "public sociology" through public comment, civic engagement, and contributions to public policy.
