The UNM Department of Sociology offers a rich and diverse intellectual community that includes 18 nationally-recognized faculty and approximately 35 passionate graduate students. While our research is wide-ranging, we focus on four core areas of sociology: Crime, Law and Social Control, Gender and Sexuality, Race and Ethnicity, and Sociology of Health and Illness.
