Lisa Broidy and her co-authors have a forthcoming article in Child Abuse & Neglect entitled “Childhood maltreatment and decision-making autonomy in adulthood: The mediating roles of self-esteem and social support” 

Kiwoong Park and his co-authors recently published an article in PlosOne entitled “Assessing COVID-19 risk with temporal indices and geographically weighted ordinal logistic regression in US counties”.  Read here.

Distinguished Professor emeritus Howard Wiatzkin co-authored an article in Social Science & Medicine entitled “Universal health coverage as hegemonic health policy in low- and middle-income countries: A mixed-methods analysis.” https://doi.org/10.1016/j.socscimed.2022.114961. Grants, Fellowships, and Other Supports

Graduate student Korey Tillman has been selected to receive a Fullbright Award to South Africa for the 2022-23 academic year. Korey will spend the year continuing his comparative (United States and South Africa) ethnographic and archival research on the antiblack and colonial roots of contemporary policing.  

Undergraduate criminology student and McNair scholar Abrianna Morales received the Truman Scholarship. The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation selected 58 outstanding college students from 53 schools, nominated by their institution based on their records of leadership, public service, and academic achievement. The Truman Scholarship is the premier graduate scholarship for aspiring public service leaders in the United States.

Nancy López is the recipient of the 2022 UNM Alumni Association Faculty Teaching Award.  More information here.

Colin Olson received the College of Arts & Sciences Teaching Excellence Award for Lecturers. 

Graduate Student Katie Rickers and her research team won the Graduate Student Team Research Concept Competition at the UNM Team Research Symposium. Their project was titled "Multicomponent Telehealth Treatment for Women who are Incarcerated with Opioid Use Disorder in New Mexico". 

Graduate student Sam Torres  received the College of Arts & Sciences Teaching Excellence Award for Graduate Teaching Assistants.
