Tyler Bateman will be presenting his work Friday, February 14, at 1:30 pm, at the Sociology Commons (SSCI #1061). Tyler is an environmental and cultural sociology who obtained his PhD in Sociology from the University of Toronto in 2024. He is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of New Mexico. 

His presentation is titled "The Genesis of Care: Knowledge‑Emotion Connections, Extension of the Self, and Care for Nature at an Urban Nature Centre.”  This talk addresses how engaging in social practices leads to care. Specifically, Tyler explores why the transition from engaging in a social practice to care for the environment occurs.
