Call for 2015-16 LAII Fellowships Competition

The call for the 2015-2016 LAII Ph.D. Fellowships Competition has been released; please see below. This is a great opportunity for students planning a dissertation that focuses on Latin American/Iberia in some way. The department can nominate up to four students. 

 If you are interested, you should first be sure you meet the requirements and discuss the fellowship with your advisor. Refer to the attached documents for more information and discuss with your advisors as needed. You then will need to submit to the Graduate Committee (please also cc Shoshana Handel) all materials noted in point 4 in the forwarded announcement below NO LATER THAN Jan 15 2015. This includes "a description of your dissertation research project (1,200 word, 12 pt, Times New Roman) which includes a) statement of the research question, b) specific description of the methodology to be used for the research, c) discussion of the significance of the research (in terms of its contribution to the literature and the possible practical benefits of the resulting knowledge),and d) literature review; a selective bibliography of literature relevant to the proposed research which should not exceed 2 pages; a resume or CV; graduate transcripts; and two faculty letters of recommendation, one of which must be from the major advisor or chair." The Graduate Committee will then review and rank order all submissions, and all final materials are due to LAII by Feb 15.
